Hecla Mining reported that its Grouse Creek gold mine has experienced higher than expected operating costs per ounce due to ower than anticipated gold grades, These costs has caused the company to re-evaluate the proven and probable re-serves at Grouse Creek and its effect on the economics of the project. It is located near Challis in central Idaho in the historic Yankee Fork Mining District. During the third quarter of 1995, Grouse Creek milled 432.7 kt (477,000 st) of ore at an average grade of 1.3 g/t (0.036 oz/st) of gold for a total of 477 kg (15,336 oz) for Hecla's account.
