This year, the ABET annual meeting will mark the end of Arden Davis' six-year term as SME's representative director on the ABET Board of Directors. Davis is a professor of geological engineering at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSM&T) and a registered professional engineer. He has been a geological engineering program evaluator since 1990 and served a five-year term as the SME geological engineering representative member on the Engineering Accreditation Commission before being elected to the representative director position. During Davis' term on the ABET Board of Directors, ABET has moved forward in its quest to improve the training of program evaluators prior to their first campus visits. Additionally, during his term, a comprehensive evaluation system has been fully implemented for all program evaluators and commission members who serve as team chairs for campus visits.
