Peabody Energy's Caballo Mine has earned the Wyoming Engineering Society's Project of the Year Award for innovative design of a facility that improves air quality at the mine's haul truck hopper area. The Caballo Mine is owned and operated by Powder River Coal, a subsidiary of Peabody Energy. The Caballo engineering and environmental team was recognized for developing "stilling sheds" that use baffles or curtains to slow the velocity of the air where coal is unloaded into the hopper.
