Santa Fe Pacific Gold said that it will build the Mule Canyon and Lone Tree flotation projects, both in Nevada. Mule Canyon has 9 Mt (10 million st) of ore grading 3.7 g/t (0.108 oz/st) that adds 34.21 (.1-1 million oz) of gold to Santa Fe Pacific Gold's proven and probable reserves. Developed in conjunction with Mule Canyon, the Lone Tree station project enhances the economic extraction of gold from current reserves that contain 37.3 t (1.2 million oz). The combined effect of developing these two projects interdependently will increase ecovery from low-grade sulfide ore at Lone Tree and reduce cash operating costs at Mule Canyon, Capital expenditures for the Mule Canyon project, 23 km (14 miles) east of Battle Mountain, are projected at about 120 million dollars. The project will produce from a low of 3.4 t/a (110,000 oz/year) to a high of 4.6 t/a (150,000 oz/year) of gold at an average cash cost of 7.36 dollars/g (229 dollars/oz) over its eight-year life.
