SME's 2015-2016 Congressional Fellow Kevin Ashley, PE, has accepted a position in the office of Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL), a senior congressman who sits on the House Committee on Rules and is the ranking member on the House Subcommittee on Legislative and Budget Process. From this vantage point, Ashley will have an opportunity to see all the legislation that goes through the House on the way to floor activity. He will use his experience and expertise as a mining engineer to make sure the congressman and the Rules Committee have fact-based, technical, nonpartisan information to make informed decisions as it relates to the environment and natural resources.
