THE U.S. FOREST Service will issue a permit to Roger Lothspeich and Peggy Braunberger to mine gravel from a project in Medora, ND, near Theodore Roosevelt's historic ranch in western North Dakota. Acting district ranger Karen Dunlap told The Associated Press she signed the decision on Jan. 6, and a permit will be issued once a bond amount is determined. The proposed 10-ha (25-acre) mine site is about a mile from Roosevelt's historic ranch cabin.
