SME recently sent the following letter to the chairs of each section in the United States to begin its new Adopt-A-Leader program. Members were asked to get involved and to encourage their sections to start adopting leaders in their communities. We need to let people know about the good work done by professionals in the minerals business. And we need to get this information into the hands of decisionmakers. (Also see Nov. 2001 ME, page 57.) Please make sure your section does its part to spread the proud word about SME. You first read about it in the November 2001 issue of Mining Engineering ... it was approved by the SME membership at the Annual Meeting of Members in Phoenix… and now we are ready for implementation!
