The Dreyer Conference was established in 2000 by SME to promote the science of geology as it is applied to the field of economic geology, particularly nonmetalliferous geologic exploration. Robert M. Dreyer established the Dreyer Trust and specified that a portion of the interest from the trust be used to fund this type of professional activity. The 2006 conference, Geology and Markets for Value-Added Carbonate Minerals, is the second in a series of industry conferences on important industrial mineral resources. It will be held in Atlanta, GA, Oct. 8-10,2006 at the W Atlanta Hotel. Nikhil Trivedi. Minerals Technologies, and Todd Harris, Mi-neSet Partners, are the conference co-chairs. Engineers, scientists, researchers, educators, management and industry representatives, government officials and geologists working in industrial minerals are encouraged to attend. The program format has been structured to promote an open exchange between conference participants. It will provide ample opportunity for discussion during and after the formal presentations.
