The West Virginia state legislature is putting pressure on President Bush to impose high tariffs on imported steel under the Section 201 case that is awaiting the president's action. In February, West Virginia's House of Delegates unanimously passed a resolution urging the president to impose tariffs of 40 percent for at least four years on 16 types of imported steel products. In December 2001, the US International Trade Commission ruled that those steel types had seriously injured the US steel industry.
