Coeur d'Alene Mines has discovered additional high-grade gold and silver mineralization at its Cerro Bayo property in southern Chile.During construction of the upper access ramp, the company intersected a 3.5-m (11-ft) section of the Celia vein structure. It averaged 37 g/t (1.08 oz/st) gold equivalent, Coeur d'Alene Mines said. This high-grade zone was intersected about 75m (245 ft) below the surface.The Cerro Bayo development program remains on schedule for a May start-up, said Dennis Wheeler, Coeur d'Alene Mines' chairman, president and chief executive officer. Production in 2002 is forecasted to be 1.86 t (60,000 oz) gold equivalent at a cash cost of less than 4.80 dollars/g (150 dollars/oz).
