摘要

A week before reaching a labor agreement with workers at its Ray mining complex and Hayden concentrator in Arizona, Asarco announced that it would temporarily cut 250 jobs as part of its efforts to conserve cash and reduce costs. Asarco, part of Grupo Mexico, has for months been in negotiations with creditors over the company's restructuring. The company said the temporary layoffs will come from the Ray complex (50 people) and at its Mission Mine (200 people), also in Arizona. "It is part of our efforts to manage a tight cash flow," an Asarco spokesman said. "We have halted some stripping to save costs and fuel, but it has not affected our output of copper."
