The 11th annual meeting of the Mineral Economics and Management Society (MEMS) will be held April 10-12, 2002 at the Holiday Inn Select in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Activities start Wednesday afternoon with a tour of Noranda Technology Center. There will also be a welcoming reception Wednesday evening following the tour.Session topics include talks on meeting investor demands, shareholder demands vs. industry realities, the student paper contest, mergers and acquisitions, the global mining initiative, environmental protection and technological innovation. Speakers and session leaders include Ross Lawrence of Watts, Griffis and McOuat; H. Brett Humphreys, Risk Capital Management; Graham Davis, Colorado School of Mines; Guy Dufresne, president and CEO of Quebec Cartier Mining and David Humphreys, chief economist at Rio Tinto.
