Consol Energy announced that coal mining resumed in December at one of its underground longwall mines in Pennsylvania. Coal mining at Mine 84 near Washington, PA, resumed one month ahead of its projected schedule. The mine is operated by Eight-Four Mining, a subsidiary of Consol Energy.Mine 84 produces steam coal for electricity generation from the Pittsburgh No. 8 seam. It has produced about 4.5 Mt/a (5 million stpy).
