To address the productivity and endurance issues found in today's surface mines, Michelin Earthmover has introduced the Michelin XDR3 MB4, a surface mine haul tire for 360-t (400-st) trucks. Six years in development, the tire is designed with new compounds and a revolutionary new tread pattern that provides exceptional tire life, increased by a minimum of 10 percent without any compromise on TKPH (ton kilometer per hour). The use of corrosion-isolating cables incorporated into the tire architecture results in an increase in tire endurance, a significant advantage for these trucks, which are typically operated for up to 23 hours per day in extreme terrain.
