Section 1. Name. This Award shall be known as the M&E Outstanding Young Professional Award. Alternatively, the award may be named after an individual who would bring distinction and honor to the award. The purpose of the award is to recognize the meritorious accomplishments of a young individual working in the mining and exploration industry (including related academic and governmental careers.) Section 2. Eligibility. The nominee must hold a baccalaureate degree. The nominee must have earned a baccalaureate degree no longer than eight years prior to the time the award is to be presented and must be 35 years of age or less. The nominee must be an SME member in good standing. The nominee must have made a significant contribution to the minerals industry in one or more of the following areas: mining, exploration, operations, research, academia, design or engineering/construction. The nominee must be willing to accept the award in person at the annual meeting.
