Worldwide demand for cement is projected to rise 4.1 percent a year through 2006 to 2.1 Gt (2.3 billion st), valued at 144 billion dollars, according to The Freedonia Group. In its latest study, the company reported that China is the largest national market for cement. It is expected to account for 37 percent of the 2006 global demand, reaching 760 Mt (838 million st). Cement sales in other developing Asia/Pacific, Latin America and Eastern Europe nations will grow at an above average pace. This growth will be fu-increases. And Japanese cement demand will stabilize and begin to recover as economic conditions in the country improve.
