Free literature, rocks, minerals, videotapes and other valuable earth-science educational materials were distributed to more than 4,000 teachers at this year's National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) Regional Conventions. Teachers often stood in line to gather their mineral kits and complimentary materials from the SME Minerals Education Coalition (SMEC) booth. The industry professionals who staffed the booths emphasized the importance of mining to our everyday lives. And the feedback from the teachers was overwhelmingly positive.
