The first recruitment area for students and potential employers was made available at the 2006 SME Annual Meeting in St. Louis. Thirteen companies booked booth space in the exhibit hall to facilitate their recruitment of the nearly 300 students who attended the annual meeting. This was a great opportunity for companies to exhibit their products and services to SME attendees and, at the same time, to find future employees. The students were just as happy to visit with the exhibitors and try to find a job or a summer internship. In addition to the recruitment booth space, exhibitors were able to send a representative from their company to give a five-minute presentation at the Student Forum on Sunday. This familiarized the students with the companies and recruiters and helped them locate the booth in the exhibit hall. A table at the forum displayed brochures and materials from the recruiting companies.
