JKSimMet Version 5.0 software has been re-engineered as Version 5 1 with faster loading and 10 new models. And for the first time, users can see on the screen the progress towards a mass balance or simulation. The program's stability has also improved. JKSimMet Version 5.1 was released at the same time as a new metallurgical accounting package, JKMetAccount, along with upgrades to the company's JKSimBlast blasting simulation program, JKMRC Technical Director Rob Morrison said.Morrison said the extended development period for the earlier JKSimMet V.5.0 meant that JKTech had to change its approach to software development. The company selected the Rational Unified Process software development system as the tool to bring about the required changes. Morrison said that through the Rational Unified Process' structured role playing, JKTech's software programmers can understand, test and implement required technical specifications without also having to be technical specialists in mining or metallurgy.
