The Denver Center for Performing Arts' production of Fire on the Mountain debuted at the Stage Theatre, April 7, 2005, in downtown Denver, CO. Fire on the Mountain was a month-long musical festival of Appalachian coal-mining bluegrass music. In celebration of Earth Day, several Colorado mining organizations took part in the opening night reception for the media. They included the Colorado Mining Exhibit Foundation, the Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute, the Office of Surface Mining and Reclamation, the Center for Energy and Economic Development, the American Coal Foundation and the Colorado Mining Association.
