This year, the national organization of Women In Mining (WIM) held its annual meeting March 23-25,2006, in conjunction with the SME Annual Meeting in St. Louis. We kicked off the meeting with a tour of Olin Corp.'s facilities in East Alton, IL. The tour highlighted copper and the 60 alloys used by Olin in its products. We finished the day by shooting trap. That evening, Arch Coal sponsored a WIM welcoming reception at its office facilities. We were greeted by Robert Massey, Arch Coal's vice president and chief financial officer. Friday and Saturday were workdays for the boards of the national organization and the Education Foundation. The meetings included participants from both of WIM's student chapters, the University of Missouri-Rolla and Virginia Tech. Newly elected officers of the national organization are: president, Adele Abrams (Washington, DC); vice president, Debbie Schumacher (at-large); secretary, Phyllis Lyday (Washington, DC) and treasurer, Carol Berry (at-large).
