In an effort to meet the soaring demand for its product, Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan, Canada plans to spend 1.6 billion us dollars to add 2.7 Mt (3 million st) of potash capacity at three of its Saskatchewan mines and mills. The Saskatoon company announced that it will carry out a new debottlenecking project at its operations in Allan and expand projects announced last year for Cory and Rocanville in the prairie province. Work on all three projects was sceduled to begin quickly, with a combined cost of 1.6 billion us dollars. The company said it will be significantly cheaper, and bring the new fertilizer to market more quickly, than building a new potash mine, the Canadian Press reported.
