It turns out that 2008 was a good year for gold miners GoldCorp Inc. and Semafo. GoldCorp announced that its fourth quarter gold production hit a record 21.5 t (692,000 oz), driving 2008 production over the top of its previous forecast. The Vancouver-based Gold-corp said it expects production for the full year to come in above 71.5 Mt (2.3 million oz), with total cash costs expected to meet its guidance of about 9.64 dollars /g (300 dollars /oz), the Canadian Press reported.
