It is hard for me not to think our country is headed in the wrong direction when most polls indicate a plurality, or majority, of Americans believe that is the case. At the same time, such polls represent an opinion that may be ill-defined, subject to interpretation and, possibly, even manipulated.For those reasons, if you do not agree with the polls, it is often easy to dismiss them (My 93-year-old father disagrees with almost all polls and thinks polling should be outlawed).Many of you probably remember that in September, the World Economic Forum issued a report "Global Competitive Report 2012-2013." I am usually dismissive of international studies that criticize the United States because they often seem ideologically driven.
