摘要

Minnesota Steel Industries' (MSI) plan for a 1.6 dollars billion integrated steel-making facility in Nashwauk, MN advanced another step when the company announced a deal to build a direct-reduced-iron (DRI) plant and a slabmaking facility. The Nashwauk facility would include reopening the Butler taconite operation that has been closed since 1985, a pellet processing plant, the DRI plant and an electric arc furnace. The latest step involved a 600-million dollars deal for the DRI plant and a steel slabmaking facility. Both would be adjacent to the iron ore/pelletizing property located in northeastern Minnesota. The DRI plant and slabmaking facility would be built by Energiron, a partnership between Mexico's Hyl Technologies and Italy's Danieli SpA.
