Homestake Mining said it will spend about 65 million dollars to develop the West Archimedes ore body on its 100 percent-owned Ruby Hill property, near Eureka in central Nevada. A feasibility study conducted by Davy International during December 1995 established a proven ore reserve of 6.9 Mt (7.62 million st) at a grade of 3.4 g/t (0.099 oz/st) of gold (23.4 t or 755,000 contained oz). This includes about 1.7 Mt (1.9 million st) of ore grading 8 g/t (0.23 oz/st). Additional mineralized areas include East Archimedes, Deep East and Achilles. These have the potential to increase the current reserve, Homestake said.
