In an open letter to the next U.S. president and Congress, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for 21st Century Energy unveiled a far-reaching set of 13 energy principles designed to address America's long-term energy needs. Among the 13 principles is a call to focus on the development of advanced clean coal technologies. The National Mining Association (NMA) is a member of the Chamber and several NMA member companies are active in the institute. "Energy is essential across the spectrum of our priorities as a nation," the institute letter said. "The security and prosperity of future generations will depend on the actions we take or fail to take today.
