Non-compliance with conditions and unauthorised tipping of waste materials at Tearsall Quarry, was considered by the Peak District National Park in June. Tearsall Quarry, on the northern edge of Bonsall Moor, covers a total area of 6.41 ha. Part of the quarry has been backfilled and restored, with restoration outstanding on the remainder. An extension area, comprising 0.34ha, was the subject of an appeal decision in June, and is immediately north of the quarry. Mineral extraction commenced at the site in 1972. Enforcement action was taken in 1981 to secure compliance with conditions including unauthorised extraction of limestone and submission of an outstanding working and restoration scheme. Following the enforcement appeal, permission was granted in 1986.
