A gigantic new gas plant capable of supplying energy to two million homes officially started operating in May. Total started production from the Laggan and Tormore gas and condensate fields, located in waters 600 metres deep to the west of the Shetland area. According to energy and infrastructure experts the project is thought to the biggest construction project in the UK since the London Olympics.Total is sinking about 3.5bn pounds into the project.
