East Sussex CC in July was recommended to refuse the extraction and processing of sand with restoration to a landscaped lake together with importation of sand for blending at Novington Sandpit and Stanton's Farm extension, Plumpton by Boss Haulage/Dudman Group. In 1998 the Council had considered two applications concerning Novington sandpit: one was for the continued extraction of sand from the existing pit and the other was for the extension of mineral working into land to the east of the pit, known as Stanton's Farm. It had been resolved to approve them once a legal agreement had been signed to ensure that glazing complying with the Noise Insulation Regulations 1975 was installed at Stantons Farm Cottages, prior to the commencement of the development. The agreement had never been finalised. Accordingly the applications were reconsidered.
