East Riding of Yorkshire Council in February refused an application for a roadstone coating plant and recycling facility in Goole, by Northern Construction Materials Ltd. Refusal was due to emissions from the operation of the coating plant being likely to give rise to significant adverse effects on nearby residents and at the premises of Britannia Foods with the potential for the tainting of food products. The development proposed was the construction and operation of a coated roadstone and recycling facility on land at West Dock within the Goole Dock system together with the importation and storage of raw material to produce the coated stone. The production capacity of the plant was 150,000tpa of coated stone. The majority of the raw materials required would be imported to the site by road and all of the coated roadstone produced delivered by road. There would be an area for recycling return loads.
