In September Devon CC accepted the Inspector's conclusions relating to Ryecroft Quarry that the 1949 planning permission was validly granted; minerals were not won and worked in 1952/53; and that certain evidence was seriously flawed and was not sufficient to show that minerals were won and worked prior to 1 April 1979. However, the Inspector's conclusions that Mr Robert Thatcher did win and work minerals between 1964 and 1978; and these works were sufficient to begin the planning permission and were more than de minimis were not accepted; and accordingly Devon CC confirmed that planning permission for proposed quarry working at Ryecroft Quarry, granted on 9 August 1949, lapsed on 1 April 1979. The case was last reported in Mineral Planning 95 (p.10) which includes a guide to earlier coverage.
