Leaders in the minerals sector have welcomed the government's recent proposal to develop a network of tidal energy lagoons. The Mineral Products Association (MPA) said the idea should represent an opportunity for the UK mineral products industry and the wider construction supply chain. New plans were recently unveiled for the world's first lagoon power plants to be built in the UK.The man-made lakes would use sea tides to generate electricity.
