摘要

Sand working at Arclid Quarry, Sandbach was approved by Cheshire CC in February. The original 1948 permission area at Arclid Quarry north of the A534 currently contains the main quarry access and the processing plant. This area was subsequently extended to cover the whole area now referred to as North Arclid, a total of 48.3ha. Extraction is currently being undertaken in South Arclid, south of the 534A. South Arclid covers 46.2ha, though only 20.7ha is permitted for mineral extraction, which is required to cease by 2017. This application sought to extend workings to the south east of workings in the South Arclid site to release an additional 1.5Mt of high quality silica sand. The 20.5ha application site included a 8.8ha extension to the area of extraction almost entirely within the existing planning permission boundary for the South Arclid site. The extension proposals would allow the release of silica sands that would otherwise have been sterilized under the terms of the exiting planning permission. The application was accompanied by an Environmental Statement.
