Art Sullivan, a member of SME, often travels to India representing Norwest Corp. When he became aware of a new student chapter organized there, he decided to contact the chapter and arrange a visit. This is his report and a summary of the mining school's activities. "With a lot of help from various friends, I made it to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur," Sullivan said. "It was a very good visit to the first SME Student Chapter in India. I was able to spend time with many faculty members, from Professor K. Rao, head of the Department of Mining Engineering, to professors, assistant professors and visiting professors. And I met with many of the students. I was given a full tour of the facilities where they are doing a great deal of applied research.
