In July, the Peak District National Park was recommended to approve revised proposals by Lafarge Cement UK for new rail infrastructure, rail sidings, a bulk cement-loading silo, inbound PFA-handling silos and a rail unloading platform, and new external lighting scheme at the Hope Cement Works. In June 2006, two applications for the development of new rail sidings and for new buildings and structures were approved (see Mineral Planning 108, p.24); the second covered the rail infrastructure, sidings, bulk cement rail loading silo and external lighting scheme but, before the planning permission was issued, the applicant submitted revised proposals which necessitated a further stage of publicity and consultation. These revised proposals were considered in July.
