Buckinghamshire CC in September approved a proposed revised scheme of working and a 4Mt southern extension with restoration to agriculture, parkland and nature conservation at Springfield Farm Quarry, Beaconsfield, for Springfield Farm Ltd. The application was accompanied by an Environmental Statement. The existing Springfield Farm Quarry and landfill site is south of Beaconsfield adjacent to the M40 and the proposed extension area, immediately to the south, is identified in the Minerals and Waste Local Plan as part of Preferred Area 1 for sand and gravel extraction. The application site was in the Metropolitan Green Belt and a Local Landscape Area.
