Buckinghamshire CC in October was recommended to approve the proposed extraction of sand and gravel and the erection of a concrete batching plant and associated development on land to the southwest of New Denham, by Summerleaze Ltd. The recommendation was subject to no over-riding objections from outstanding consultees, and the provision of an undertaking to control the restoration and aftercare of the site with a Bird Management Plan. The application was accompanied by an Environmental Statement. The site was identified as a 'Preferred Area' for sand and gravel extraction (Preferred Area 2) in the Buckinghamshire Minerals and Waste Local Plan. The land is owned by Buckinghamshire CC and the County Council would retain the ownership of the land during and after mineral extraction.
