Devon County Council has approved a schedule of new conditions for a quarry near Barnstaple, subject to the.operator agreeing to avoid further working in one area of the site and indemnify the council against compensation claims. The application included proposals for the restoration of the main quarry, Baileys Pit and interim restoration and future working of an extension site, Spear's Land.The quarry had been inactive since 2006, although a concrete batching plant at the site was operational.
