North Yorkshire County Council has resolved to grant permission for the extraction of two million tonnes of limestone over seven years at Jackdaw Crag quarry in the West Yorkshire green belt. Jackdaw Crag quarry was an established magnesian limestone quarry located 1.5 kilometres south west of Tadcaster. The application had been submitted in 2009 and the council had granted permission for the development in 2013. However, a successful legal challenge on the grounds that the decision notice did not state that the environmental information had been taken into consideration led to the permission being quashed in January 2014.The application had been returned to the county council for determination.
