In the dry mortar industry, polymer dispersions in powder form have become increasingly popular. As opposed to other dispersions, they are easy to use and ensure consistent quality. By adding these so-called 'redispersible powders', it is possible to upgrade the properties and applications of finished compounds of cement, gypsum or other materials significantly. For example, products which have been modified become extremely flexible. However, the production of redispersible powders is complex and requires a great deal of expertise. Ingredients need to be carefully selected, analyzed and combined in order to achieve optimal working quality, curing behavior, adhesion and bonding strength, enhanced tensile and bonding strength and various other performance characteristics.
