Contribution brings summary about distribution of three groups of calcareous microplankton (calpionellids. calcareous dinoflagellates and calcareous nannofossils) in the Upper Jurassic and Early Cretaceous pelagic sedimentary sequences in the Western Carpathians. In the studied Western Carpathian sequences, the mass abundance of these microfossils was closely connected predominantly with shallow intrashelf basins and its elevated ridges. Calpionellids. calcareous dinoflagellate and nannofossils bio-events emphasize the potential of these planktonic groups as proxies in paleoecology and paleoceanography. It seems, that their successive events may coincide with whole complex of environmental changes. These are clearly reflected in alternating relative abundance of species, species variability and assemblage diversity and also with the structural composition of their tests.
