Brazil's northeast has begun crushing its 2011/12 cane crop, which is expected to be one of the largest ever, the head of the region's sugarcane industry association (Sindacucar) said. The region, which usually accounts for 10% of the Brazilian cane output, is expected to harvest 66 mln tonnes of cane, up from 63 mln last season.
