摘要

For the wearing face, the crossheads are fitted with cast iron shoes. These are machined with a sloping face to engage with a corresponding sloping face on the crosshead. An integral adjusting screw enables a fine adjustment to be made of the distance between the centreline of the piston rod and the wearing surface of the column. This is a critical point so it is nice to have the luxury of an adjustment. When all is correctly set, four small studs and nuts are tightened to secure the assembly.
