摘要

The Ontario government is moving to eliminate all professional allowances for Ontario pharmacy owners in both the public drug program and private plans - removing at least Dollars 750 million from annual pharmacy income across the province. Pharmacies are to receive more payments for professional services and slightly higher dispensing fees but the bottom line, say pharmacist groups, will be a severe economic hit for pharmacies and cuts to patient services. "For every Dollars 3 they took out of the system, they have put only Dollars 1 back in," says Donnie Edwards, a community pharmacist in Ridgeway and a spokesperson for Ontario's Community Pharmacies coalition. "This is a big cut in front-line health care dollars. Our fear as pharmacists is that this is going to put our patients' access and services in jeopardy."
