The Republican candidate for Ohio attorney general, Mike Crites, would drop the State of Ohio's public nuisance lawsuit against the former makers of lead paint if elected, a source told Mealey Publications on Oct. 20 (See October 2008, Page 8). The lawsuit, which seeks to hold paint companies liable for creating a public nuisance because they sold paint containing lead before a federal ban was enacted in 1978, is based on "a false legal theory," the source said.
