摘要

Study of forest litters is a fundamental problem of forest soil science. In one of his latest works, Zonn [1] referred to it as a most important task facing forest soil scientists. Forest litters are the first and natural accumulators of bound carbon,a major source of mobile organic matter migrating in a soil profile. Successive transformation of organic matter of the forest falloff takes place in a forest litter. Forest litters are soil components that are the most sensitive to variation in soil moisture conditions and changes in plant cover successions. There are two historically established approaches to the study of organic matter of forest litters. One approach consists in employing common methods to investigate specific humic substances of soil, whereas the other places a stronger emphasis on the study of the chemical composition of nonspecific, individual compounds, lignins among them.
