摘要

Urban heat island phenomena have been analyzed by numerous researchers using mesoscalemeteorological models, so many mesoscale models with various features have been developedaround the world, of which MM5 (Grell et al., 1995) is considered one of the major models. Insuch mesoscale analysis, a slab model is primarily used for the ground boundary conditions.However, it is necessary to include the effect of the building canopy in order to analyze thethermal environment at pedestrian level in urban areas. Therefore, in this study, MM5 is incor-porated with the urban canopy model, which was first proposed by Kondo et al. (1998) andmodified by the authors (2006). The urban thermal environment in the Tokyo metropolitan areais analyzed by means of the new method developed here. The results of this newly developedmethod show better agreement with observation data than the conventional model.
