摘要

The urban climate represents a modification of the regional atmospheric background conditions.Related to urban planning, the thermal component and the air pollution component of the urbanclimate are of general significance. The atmospheric background conditions are changing due tothe current climate change. For Central Europe, results of regional climate simulations point outthe reliable likelihood that extreme heat waves in summer will be more intense, more frequentand longer lasting. Human thermal stress caused by this climate evolution will be strengthenedwithin cities by their different dynamics. As a result of both developments, efficiency, well-being and health of citizens are affected in a crucial way that urban planning is defied to de-velop and apply strategies for the mitigation of the extreme heat effects on citizens. They re-quire a pronounced relation to citizens, i.e. they should have a human-biometeorological basis.
