A wind damage risk forest management planning tool, W1NDA-GALES, has been de-veloped. The tool has added functionality compared to the WINDA system of modelson which it is based (Blennow & Salinas 2004; Blennow & Olofsson 2008). WINDA-GALES can be used to evaluate silviculture strategies and forest planning options withrespect to the probability of wind damage. Using climate scenario data and a descriptionof the state of the forest under climate change, the potential probability of wind damageunder a changed climate can be estimated (cf. Blennow et al. 2009).
